Where does the Fear of Flying come from?

The fear of flying is really a fear of not being in control. We know we can get off a car, a train or even a boat but we can’t get off a plane so we feel out of control and trapped.

How to cure a Fear of Flying

In order to cure a Fear of Flying you need to realize that control begins with your feelings. That your thoughts control your feelings, your feelings control your actions and your actions control events.

When you change your thinking and make it positive you can be in control. So when you are about to fly you need to tell yourself that you feel as safe and as normal as you feel in a car.

If you can get into a car then you have faith that you are safe and you can transfer that faith to being on plane. You can do this by thinking the same thoughts and telling yourself the same things.

The way you feel on a plane is down to two things; the pictures you make in your head and the words you say to yourself.

If you make positive pictures and words you can’t feel fearful as the brain is unable to focus on contradictory feeling.

I would recommend that you fill your mind up with pictures of you relaxing, sleeping watching a great film and generally feeling at ease.

It is important to use words like I feel calm, relaxed, happy, at ease and peaceful because whatever you focus on you can get more of. My Fear of Flying CD/download does this for you.

Top Tip

Fill your mouth up with saliva before you are going to board a plane this will help you because a wet mouth signals to your brain that you are relaxed.

That is why we drool when we are asleep and our mouth goes dry when we are nervous. Filling up your mouth with saliva signals to your brain that you are calm even if you are not and makes you feel and act more calmly.

It’s positive biofeedback – the more your mind thinks you are calm the calmer it makes you then you feel and act more calmly.
